Next month is the New Year,

but there’s not a hint of festive atmosphere,
do you feel it?

The wealth gap is too wide, in the past everyone was the same,
celebrating the New Year with some fruits, cured meats, sausages,
setting off firecrackers and enjoying a harmonious time,
without any psychological burden.

Now, when people meet, they talk about how much money they made,
business has been tough this year,
kids at home are grown up but not married,
the houses bought have crashed,
buying new energy vehicles and running away,
debt is even more common!

And then relatives at home speak with sarcasm,
relatives who are deputy section chiefs spout official jargon,
with tone and mannerisms, criticizing you endlessly.

The pandemic has taught everyone a few truths:
"Not going home for the New Year saves a lot of money"
"Not dating during the New Year saves a lot of money"
"Not visiting relatives during the New Year saves a lot of money"
"Working overtime during the New Year can earn a lot of money"

Although I may not become a billionaire,
my pockets are full,
and I can really talk back to the sky, the earth, and the air.
