On January 21, Noble announced that the team will officially launch an all-new EVM Layer 1 mainnet on March 18, 2026. This new network, built on the Commonware architecture, will no longer rely on the existing Cosmos SDK chain—marking a pivotal shift in Noble’s core technology strategy.
The new mainnet signals Noble’s transition from a Cosmos ecosystem application chain to a public chain architecture with an independent execution layer and greater scalability.
Noble’s new EVM Layer 1 mainnet is designed for high efficiency and financial-grade applications, with several key features highlighted by the team:
These features are tailored for high-frequency financial trading and stablecoin settlement—rather than functioning as a generic public chain.
Within the new mainnet framework, the native yield-bearing stablecoin USDN will serve as the ecosystem’s central asset. Noble plans to build out diverse financial use cases around USDN, including:
This approach shows Noble’s intent to position its stablecoin not just as a payment tool, but as a yield-generating, composable financial building block.
With the new EVM Layer 1 coming online, Noble’s current Cosmos SDK-based chain will gradually enter maintenance mode. The team has stated:
This plan aims to minimize ecosystem transition costs while preserving Noble’s established advantages within the IBC network.
Before this transformation, Noble served as the stablecoin issuance infrastructure chain in the Cosmos and IBC ecosystem, focusing on helping issuers manage native assets—including minting, burning, and blacklist functions. Noble also acted as a distribution hub, enabling issuers to efficiently deploy assets across more than 50 blockchains and providing developers with easy-to-integrate application interfaces.

Noble’s launch of its new EVM Layer 1 mainnet is not just a technical upgrade—it’s a strategic repositioning. By making USDN the core asset, integrating rapid transaction finality, payment-focused architecture, and targeting DeFi, FX, and settlement applications, Noble is evolving from a stablecoin distribution hub to on-chain infrastructure for financial-grade applications. With continued IBC interoperability and a seamless migration path, whether this new chain can successfully integrate with the EVM ecosystem and drive real-world adoption will be a key market focus going forward.
