Recently, there has been an interesting topic in the graphics card community. A Reddit user shared that after ordering a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, they found it in stock at Micro Center, so they decided to cancel the order and received a full refund.
Surprisingly, days later, the graphics card still arrived at their home. The user posted a photo of the white graphics card installed inside a matching-colored PC. Even more astonishing, Amazon customer service said: You can keep this card.
Amazon’s Surprising Response
Faced with this unexpected “gift,” the user acted with integrity, proactively contacting Amazon customer service and expressing willingness to pay or return the item. However, the response from Amazon customer service was unexpected:
Since the refund has already been processed, the item can be kept by the recipient.
An Unexpected Fortune of Great Value
The ASUS ROG Astral series is one of the top-tier graphics cards on the market. This RTX 5080 is priced at around $1,850 in the US market (about NT$59,000), with some outlets even listing it close to $2,000.
Generally, if the item’s value is lower (for example, below $20 dollars), or if customer service deems the return shipping cost not worthwhile, Amazon usually says: “Sorry for the inconvenience, this item is yours, no need to return it.”
However, in higher-value cases, customer service might offer a free return service, asking you to send the item back. Of course, similar situations can happen (for example, some netizens said they previously received a PS5 for free), leading many to envy and call it the “luckiest player of 2026.”
Note: According to US consumer protection laws, items sent without consent cannot be charged to the recipient, who has the right to treat it as a gift.
